Recording a Great Vehicle Health Check Video

Video Vehicle Health Checks are becoming an increasingly popular practice for after-sales departments.

A quick and simple 60 second video from your technician helps to boost customer satisfaction and increases the likelihood of any identified work being authorised. The APPraise app from Dragon2000 allows you to take advantage of this for free.

Tips:

Not all health check videos have to identify issues, clean video reports help to build customer trust, leading to repeat business and referrals. Get into the habit of performing a Vehicle Health Check on each vehicle you service.

Recording the video:

  1. Once you are ready to record the video, position yourself at either the front or the back of the vehicle, with the number plate in the shot and your device in landscape mode.
  2. Welcome the customer to their video Vehicle Health Check and introduce yourself as the technician working on the vehicle.
  3. Move to each wheel and detail the tyre depths and brake wear, identifying if it should be changed or if it would fail an MOT, for example.
  4. Briefly show and explain any other issues you have found, i.e. an oil leak.
  5. Finally, move back to your starting point (either the front or rear of the vehicle) and thank the customer for using your after-sales department.
  6. Once you are happy with the video you have recorded, submit the health check on the app, this will then attach it to the customer’s Service Record in your DragonDMS.
  7. The video can then be automatically sent to the customer via SMS, alerting you via email once the customer has viewed the video on a website branded with your company’s details – a perfect time to call and discuss the work required.
