Workshop App – Location Settings

In settings, you can specify the location of your business which means a Technician must be within the parameters set, in order to Clock In or Clock On via the Workshop App. Multiple locations can be entered if applicable.

How to set up your location details

In the DragonDMS go to Settings > Apps > Workshop App > Workshop App Locations. Click on New Location. The following information will need to be entered:

  • Workshop Name – The name of the location you are creating
  • Latitude and Longitude – Using these will give an accurate location of your premises. To obtain this information, you can search on the internet for your business and then on maps, right click on your building. The first number will be the Latitude and the second, Longitude.
  • Radius (in metres) – This is the distance your Technicians must be from the Latitude and Longitude to Clock In or Clock On.

Employee Settings

To apply the location settings to your technicians, in the DMS go to Settings > System > Employees and double click on the relevant employee account.

Within the employee record go to Access Rights > Apps. Tick the setting Must be within radius of a location to Clock In/On.

Using the Workshop App with Location Settings

All Technicians will be able to log into the app, but whether they can clock in/on will be determined by the settings.

When they click Clock In or Clock On, the app will ask them to turn on the Location Settings for the device they are using (this will be only be asked if the location settings are not already active for the app). This is required for the app to be able to confirm their location against the location specified in the DMS.

If they are within the specified radius of one of your locations, they will successfully Clock In/On.

If all settings are applied and the Technician is not within the specified radius of one of the locations, they will receive an error message when trying to clock in or on.
